A UAE-based company with a simple rule about plastic
Sense Select started because the "eco" section in most UAE shops was either flimsy, absurdly priced, or both. We wanted the ordinary things — plates, brushes, bottles, takeaway boxes — done properly.
We are Sense Select LLC, registered in UAE and shipping from Dubai to every emirate. We are not a marketplace and we don't drop-ship: every item on this site is something we have bought in quantity, unpacked, used, and decided to stand behind.
Where it began
The first products were for the food and beverage trade — compostable cornstarch boxes, sugarcane straws and plant-based cutlery for cafés that wanted to move away from single-use plastic without their customers noticing a drop in quality. Households started asking for the same things in retail packs, then for the wheat-straw tableware we used ourselves, and the range grew from there.
What we mean by "sustainable"
We try to avoid the word where we can, because it has come to mean almost anything. Instead we tell you the material and what to do with it at the end: wheat-straw fiber and cornstarch compost; bamboo goes in the green waste; 18/8 and SUS 316 stainless steel is meant to be kept for years and then recycled as scrap metal. If a product has a part that doesn't fit that description — a silicone lid, say — the product page says so.
What we're still working on
Not everything about the way goods reach the UAE is clean. Most of our stock travels by sea from manufacturers in Asia; we consolidate shipments to keep that footprint down, but we won't pretend it is zero. Our own packaging is paper and cardboard, and we reuse supplier cartons for wholesale orders. If you have a supplier closer to home making something we should be stocking, we'd genuinely like to hear about it.
